The development and maintenance of library and information science terms are within the competence of the National Library of Estonia and the Terminology Committee of the Estonian Librarians Association.
Terminology work covers the management of the online dictionary of library terms, consultations on the issues of terminology (by phone or via e-enquires), and the arrangement of terminology committee’s meetings. In recent years, terminology seminars have gained popularity. They are organised by the National Library and the ELA terminology committee and supported by the programme of the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research “Support for Estonian-language Terminology (2008–2012)” and its follow-up programme for the years 2013–2017 and 2019-27.
