Starting from this week, the National Library of Estonia is again open to visitors from Monday to Friday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. While the reading areas and exhibitions are open, we are not yet opening the study or group rooms, listening area, children’s area, piano or video rooms. The education centre’s and conference centre’s activities are also still on hold, and the wardrobe remains closed.
All contact-free services that were launched during the emergency situation will continue working and the library advises its patrons to use those if possible. The books can still be borrowed online and received contact-free.
Books can be borrowed for 30 days. The library does not take fine for delay yet. During the first week of opening, the library keeps an eye on the new rules and if necessary, makes changes in the rules of operation or hygiene.
Based on the government’s regulations, the library will rearrange its rooms and services so that it would follow the 2 metre distance rule. This means that the seating spots in reading areas will be more sparse and there are less computers for use. When using the books or appliances at the library, it is strongly advised to use a protective face mask, which can be homemade. If you are ill, do not visit the library.
All contact-free services continue working
The library continues with contact-free services. For instance, the patrons can order books online and then borrow these in self-service terminal in the foyer of the library. Books can also be borrowed and returned in the Book Dispenser that is located outside of the library (next to the main entrance).
Starting from April, it is also possible to borrow and return books via Omniva parcel machines (read more: https://www.nlib.ee/en/news/new-home-lending-omniva-parcel-machines).
